This blog was born from a feeling that the way we interact with the environment needs to
change. To change the way people interact with the environment, we need to inspire and
empower the people to change themselves.

After working in the social service sector for years, I have learned a thing or two about
people (and keep learning about the magnificent, messed up, wonderful, innovative, beautiful creatures we are). Pairing my education and experience with my passion for the
environment just makes good sense to me.

The way I see it, we’re all big, leggy, adult-children … So I started thinking about a child and what they need to grow up healthy and strong, and capable of becoming meaningfully engaged in their communities.

They need role models, inspiration, opportunities to explore and try new things, and they need to be told that when their best efforts don’t work, it’s ok. Children need to feel safe and they need to be soothed and protected when they don’t. They need to be motivated, empowered to see just how strong and capable they are, and they need people to believe in them. Children don’t need us to point out their deficits; They need us to believe in their abilities. When children are learning, they need guidance. They need to hear about new ideas, see possibilities, try new strategies, fail sometimes and learn from failing. They need their own personal cheer squad helping them believe that they are the most beautiful and amazing humans we know, and that they rock our world on the daily.

So if our goal is to grow people into eco-champions, or perhaps just individuals who have a
healthy and respectful relationship with the environment (not all of us will be innovators, heroes or activists!), don’t we need to come at it the same way?

My hope is that this blog is a place where you can find inspiration, role models, motivation, and empowerment. There is a lot of information out there telling us that the earth, and it’s humans (us) are in trouble. So if you need to feel soothed, and protected, we’ll try that too. There are a lot of people who believe that turning on the eco-friendly switch means turning off the fun. So I’m here to focus on optimism and inspiration instead.

My name is Sarah Grace and I live in Kelowna, British Columbia with my man-friend and dog. I am far from perfect and I cuss a little. If you’re picking up when I’m putting down, hit ‘Follow’, and we’ll see you soon.
